Photos

Analog photography has been my on and off hobby for years at this point. The first camera I got was an old East German Praktica PLC3. Photos taken with it are sharp, you can attach many different types of lenses, and it has that loud shutter sound I really like. But it’s very heavy, and at some point it just broke, and it’s now sitting in my living room as decoration.

I felt sad about it, and even stopped taking photos for a while. That was during my PhD and I also felt like I didn’t have time for hobbies.

Luckily, this didn’t last for long, and I decided to buy myself a simple point-and-shoot camera. That camera wasn’t great quality, but it brought back the joy of walking around and taking photos.

Currently, I’m shooting with a Pentax ME Super, and I like it a lot. It’s much lighter than the Praktica and the light meter indicator has been very helpful.

I’m mostly going back and forth between 200 and 400 ISO Kodak color film. I tried to take some photos with black and white films, and I think I’m just not ready for it. I don’t know how to think in shadows, yet.
